Jawline Contouring – A Non Invasive procedure

Jawline contouring is used to help shape the Jawline – speak to the caring staff at Lightsculpt about Jawline reshaping.

Many people may find they notice a substantial change in the shape of their jawline and chin as they age. The muscles can become quite prominent, the skin slackens and excess fat can build up. Some people may have a hereditary predisposition to developing these factors and others notice as their skin begins to slacken.

What causes a heavy jawline and chin?

A heavy jawline/chin in women can be considered quite masculine; several reasons why it occurs are:

Genetic predisposition – Some people will inherit certain characteristics from their parents and family members; the shape and size of facial features being one. Even though women tend to have smaller features than men, we can genetically inherit the ability for strong developed muscles; especially the in jaw.

Excessive jaw clenching or movement in the masseter muscle – Like any muscle, if we exercise them enough they will grow in size and strength. This is the same for the masseter muscle located in the jaw, which controls and enables us to chew our food. If we over work this muscle is can become overdeveloped and give the appearance of a bulky/large jaw.

Skin slackening – The skin on and around our face is generally quite sensitive to the environmental and hormonal changes. As we age our skin produces less collagen and elastin (which keeps our skin taught), this causes the areas that are not substantially supported by muscles to sag and slacken, commonly the jawline and chin.

Excess fat – Even if we are not overweight, fat may build up on the jawline and chin area. Some people will find they tend to store fat in this area even if they have a healthy lifestyle and as we age it becomes harder to maintain a trim figure. Excess fat on the jawline and chin can make a trim person seem bigger and age the face.

What procedures are available to contour the jawline?

At Lightsculpt we offer a variety of procedures to treat a heavy jawline and chin; some non-invasive and some invasive, giving patients many options and routes to go down.

  • For patients who have a heavy jaw caused by an overdeveloped masseter muscle, we are able to offer Muscle relaxing agents. Muscle relaxing agents have been used for many medical and cosmetic conditions for over 20 years. This product was originally designed to treat overactive muscles, either medically or cosmetically. By injecting the product into the masseter muscle it may reduce the bulge and help with tightness, also benefiting patients who tend to clench their jaws.
  • For patients who lead a healthy lifestyle and exercise but still have stubborn fat on the chin we offer Venus Legacy. The Venus Legacy™ is a good option for combating stubborn fat areas and cellulite. It combines VariPulse™ technology with our proven 3D™ MP2  energy, causing it to travel deeper into the skin which may result in increased blood circulation, immediate skin tightening, and glowing skin. Results may be seen in as little as one treatment – no pain, discomfort or downtime.
  • For patients who have taught skin but excess fat on the jaw and chin we offer Ceccarelli Fat Loss Injections. Lipolysis for fat reduction and cellulite treatment uses a mixture of fat-dissolving combination of Vitamin C, iron and lignocaine, injected to the localised regions of the body. The treatment is performed by a specially trained professional and involves virtually painless micro-injections into the targeted fat layer beneath the skin.

Results on any treatment may vary per individual as everybody is different and may respond differently to treatments mentioned.

Are jawline contouring procedures painful?

All of the jawline/chin contouring procedures offered at Lightsculpt; invasive and non-invasive are considered virtually pain free. Venus Legacy, Muscle relaxants and Ceccarelli are considered the least invasive and involve minimal pain that is bearable and often not felt.
